ANALYST

Source: Business Analyst jobs

Business Analyst, a new role defined in every company, is gaining
importance by the day, particularly in the IT sector. For, business analyst is
to a company what a remote help desk is to IT operations.

The objective of a business analyst is to constantly monitor the direction in
which the company is moving. The mandate also involves defining new
business goals, assisting and strategizing growth plans and tapping new
opportunities for growth.

Typically, a business analyst is an integral component of any company’s
core activities. A business analyst is also the one stop shop for all the
requirements of the company. Obviously, a business analyst should be
intelligent with in-depth knowledge of the industry the company operates
in. A business analyst should have hands-on experience with everything
related to the company.

The first and foremost responsibility of a business analyst is to keep a tab
on the industry directions and trends. Simultaneously, the business analyst
has to prepare a roadmap to ensure that the company aligns with the
industry direction and trends to improve its business.

The business analyst, however, will also have the risk of insulating the
company against wrong industry trends. If the industry trend is moving in
the wrong direction, it is for the business analyst to ensure that it is not
detrimental to the company’s objectives. It calls for realigning the company’
s growth path.

This activity involves a lot of research and study of the industry trends. By
analyzing the industry trends, the business analyst, time and again should
give feedback on redefining the company’s goals and objectives, focus and
overcoming the obstacles to tap new growth opportunities.

The business analyst should regularly interact with the company
management level, developers and customers. As customer is considered
the king, the objective of any company that is aiming for success is high
customer satisfaction. If a customer is not satisfied, any company carries
the risk of losing that particular customer. It could be a dangerous trend. It
is for the business analyst to ensure that the customer is happy with the
company.

For this, the business analyst has to provide feedback from the customer to
the company. Basically, the business analyst is the interface between a
company and its corporate customers.

Excellent communication skills, analytical mindset, technical skills, attitudes
and temperament are important for any business analyst to emerge
successful. Companies cannot afford to operate with full time business
analysts on their rolls.
